The expectations for this writing class. One being try not to miss class but there are 5 absences you can have before it takes off points. As well as turning off unnecessary electronics that will harm focus or learning. To add to that participation is a big grade for this class. Trying not to have late assignments will also be a great factor.
Some strategies are just walking in with your phone in your bag, that will decrease the want to constantly look at the phone. For absences, only using them is seriously necessary, just because you’re tired isn’t a great excuse to miss class. You may need that absence if you get sick or an emergency, plus you may fall behind and that could add up and be stressful. Participating in class is a great way to stay engaged and to earn point, even if you don’t have an answer just asking questions could be a great way to stay engaged. Having late assignments could lead to having lower grades if you put all that effort in you’re going to want to get that full grade on it so might as well do it on time. Also late work can start to pile up.
Way I plan on meeting these expectations are having a planner so I know when things are due and what is due, another thing is doing my work as soon as possible instead of procrastinating. This allows me to know what I need to do is done already and I can do more things rather than worrying. Staying balanced is also something I plan on doing, with school, work and theatre there has to be a good amount of balance between all of these otherwise things can get overwhelming. Focusing is a challenge for me so only using my phone in emergencies is what I will strive for. To go towards participating I will try to raise my hand or be part of a discussion once or more each class.
